User Profile: Johannes Stübler alias JOE

BACKGROUND

I am living in Austria [not Australia - we have no Kangaroos ;-) but wonderful mountains] near the city Linz. Year of birth: 1958. My profession is a system-administrator (networking, client-server etc...). I am married and have 2 childrens. My hobbies are astronomy, motorbikes, kiting and much more. SETI THOUGHTS

I first heard about seti@home back in 1999, I found the Screensaver on a homepage, and I imediatley downloaded and installed it. I think we are not alone - an impossible thought to me. Watching the sky from my little backyard-observatory, I feel sometimes - there is anybody like to me, just in time watching the wonders of deepsky - looking at stars, starclusters, galaxies.... I dont't belive in UFOs, flying saucers and so on .... I know about the great distances. But looking to the millions of galaxies I belive there are millions of extraterrestrial civilisations. Getting into contact maybee impossible or risky too, but "NO RISK - NO KNOWLEDGEMENT" With Seti@home I can do a little contribution in search of extraterrestrial life - and this makes me happy.
